SAF118 FALL PROTECTION FOR THE COMPETENT PERSON

This course is designed for personnel working at height, or personnel who use fall prevention and/or protection equipment and systems, or who are responsible for safety at their job sites where fall hazards exist.

This course covers the 29 CFR Part 1910 Subpart D, 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M, principles of fall protection, components, limitations of fall arrest systems, ANSI Z359, Z490, Z10.32 and EM385-1-1 Standards and policies regarding fall protection.

Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment, residential construction fall protection, and training requirements. In addition, students will develop their own fall protection program and will:

  • Be able to assess compliance with OSHA Fall Protection Standards
  • Evaluate installed passive systems and fall arrest systems
  • Learn safety leadership skills
  • Conduct a fall hazard assessment
