AHA101R ACLS Provider – Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Renewal

The audience for this renewal course includes Physicians, PA’s, Nurse practitioners, Nurses, EMS personnel, and Respiratory Therapists.

The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as the team leader. Students will learn the:

  • Importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival
  • Integration of effective basic life support with ACLS interventions
  • Importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

To prepare for the class students should:

  • Review ACLS Pre-Course Welcome Letter sent to you
  • Complete ACLS Pre-Course Self-Assessment Test found on page ii in the ACLS book and on our web site and bring to class
  • Review ACLS Algorithms
  • Review ACLS Pharmacology
  • Review and understand Cardiac Rhythms:
    • High Degree AV Blocks
    • Sinus Bradycardia
    • Sinus Tachycardic
    • Supraventricular Tachycardia
    • Ventricular Fibrillation
    • Ventricular Tachycardia
    • PEA
    • Asystole
    • Bradycardia

Topics that will be covered include the following:

  • Rescuer CPR, AED
  • Defibrillation
  • Airway management
  • Rhythm recognition
  • IV/IO access
  • Use of medications
  • Cardioversion
  • Transcutaneous pacing
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics
