AHA105 BLS Instructor – Basic Life Support Instructor – Initial

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Essentials Course is designed to equip instructor candidates with the necessary skills to teach American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. The course educates candidates on the effective utilization of AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensuring that students achieve learning objectives, providing student coaching skills, conducting objective skills performance evaluations, and adhering to AHA Instructor and course policies. It covers both core content and discipline-specific content required for teaching AHA courses.

This course is designed for candidates who are currently certified in BLS and aspire to teach Basic Life Support (BLS) to individuals such as healthcare professionals, first responders, medical students, and anyone interested in becoming certified in BLS. It also includes the ability to conduct the AHA Heartsaver courses including First-Aid, CPR, AED, Pediatric First-Aid, CPR in Schools, Bloodborne Pathogens and Family and Friends CPR.

This course is taught in a blended learning format. AHA BLS Instructor candidates must complete both the Online Heartsaver Instructor Essentials and the Online BLS Instructor Essentials course, before attending the hands-on session conducted by BLS Training Faculty.

Required items to bring to the hands-on BLS Instructor session: 

    • BLS Instructor Manual (included in the cost of the course)
    • Current BLS Provider Card
    • Heartsaver and BLS Instructor Essentials (Online) Completion Certificates
    • Photo ID
